at the southern end of the Yucatan about 90 miles south of Cancun in the Sian Kaan Biosphere.
Translated from Mayan, this means "where the sky is born". It
is a saltwater fly fisherman's paradise and offers anglers Grand Slam
fly fishing opportunities with Permit, Bonefish, and Tarpon in the same day, as well as a
variety
of other saltwater species.
If you
are staying in Cancun, Playa del Carmen, or the Riviera
Maya, you can spend a day or more fishing this amazing
place without having to do an entire vacation to a
lodge. You'll be picked up at your hotel and driven down
to the Pesca Maya Lodge where you'll have a chance to
enjoy the included breakfast with juice and coffee. Once
you're finished you'll meet up with your guide and head
out for an incredible day of fishing.
The flats
of Ascension Bay are world famous for Bonefish, Permit,
Tarpon, Snook, and Barracuda along with some other
species like Jack and Snapper. You'll fish from a 15ft
"Panga Skiff" and be guided by an experienced
local guide that will put you on the fish. Fly Fishermen
and Light Tackle Fishermen will have plenty of
opportunities. If you have children, family trips are
also available where the focus will be Snappers giving
them plenty of action.

To Bring: Polarized
sunglasses, a good hat, wading booties, sun protection,

need to book? Space does fill in advance so the earlier
the better.
How long
does it take to get to the lodge? From Cancun 3hrs, from
Playa del Carmen 2hrs, from the Riviera Maya 1
1/2hrs.
How many
people per boat? The price is for one or two anglers.
You can add an one more person for $50.00. Kids under 12
$25.00.
What type
of boat will I fish on? The famous Panga Mexicana set up
for fishing with casting platform, poling platform,
seats, and rod holders. The are run by 40 or 50HP Yamaha
engines.
What type
of gear is available? Fly rods are Orvis, Echo, and
Abel, Reels are Orvis, Echo, and Old Florida reels.
Light tackle reels are Shimano with Shakespeare rods.
Can I go
wading? Yes! many areas have nice big hard bottom flats.
What
happens in case of bad weather? If you have already been
picked up, you will continue on down to the lodge and
the guides will head for protected areas. If it is too
bad to get out, you can reschedule for another day.
What is
the cancellation policy? A 90% refund is given for any
reservations canceled at least 48hrs in advance.
